Paul Bagust - Board Director

Paul Bagust is Global Property Standards Director at RICS. Prior to joining RICS 15 years ago, Paul worked as a property manager for major investors. Now he is responsible for creating new standards, best practice and thought leadership on all property related matters with a specific focus on facility management and corporate real estate. Over the years, Paul has contributed to the discourse around workplace productivity, AI, the impact of emerging technology on the sector and he frequently represents the profession as government liaison at leading industry events. He also led the development of the new RICS APC pathways competencies in FM and the creation of a brand new CRE pathway. Paul joined the board of the IFMA UK chapter because he believes the RICS/IFMA collaboration is an opportunity for the FM profession to significantly advance in terms of skills, training, qualifications and leadership.

David Emanuel - Treasurer

David is the founder and MD of www.i-FM.net, the first online source for information about facilities management. Prior to taking up the role of treasurer for the IFMA UK Chapter, David had spent four years volunteering as treasurer of the Women in FM Special Interest Group. In addition to serving on the BIFM members council as members representative, he was also a board director of the Facilities Management Association for a decade before it merged with Asset Skills to become the BFG. John Horan MRICS CFM CBIFM - Company Secretary

John Horan’s FM career began in 1998, creating PPM tasks and schedules for conveyor systems within distribution centres. This introduction fed his inquisitive mind, with a hunger to better understand how objects and buildings are designed, created and maintained. Over the past twenty years, John has successfully worked for client organisations and service providers, covering the UK, Europe and Middle East. The initial hunger remains, reinforced and enhanced by robust operational, commercial and strategic capability. John is an RICS Chartered Surveyor (MRICS), IFMA Certified Facility Manager (CFM) and BIFM Certified Member (CBIFM).

Lucy Jeynes FRICS MBIFM FRSA - Events Director

Lucy is Managing Director of Larch Consulting, an independent FM strategy consultancy practice that provides advice, innovation and implementation programmes to some of the world's best-known brand names.  In demand as a speaker, trainer and business writer.
 
She has been voted by her peers as a Pioneer of FM and one of the 20 Most Influential Women in FM, and founded the Women in FM network.

Antony Law - Vice President

Antony Law began his career with mitie. Over the course of 15 years, he rose through the company’s ranks to the role of regional director. In 2016, Antony joined Churchill Contract Services where he currently serves as managing director for the London region. Churchill is one of the largest independently-owned FM service providers in the UK, who were recently awarded The Sunday Times Top Track 250 award. Antony now drives his vision in Churchill, of positively influencing change, attracting the best talent in the industry and using data to make decisions. Antony is also a committee member of the YMF (Young Managers Forum) where he performs an advisory role supporting the board and future development of the forum.

 

Dennis Markey FRICS - Board Director

Dennis is a Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and has extensive experience leading public and private sector property organisations, including with one of the largest property portfolios in Europe.

Rory Murphy FRICS - Board Director

Commercial Director for the VINCI Facilities business, responsible for the commercial performance of this £250m division of VINCI Construction UK. The Facilities business delivers fully integrated FM and Building solutions across the UK and within key areas of both the Public and Private sectors.

A fellow of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors Rory is also a member of the RICS world regional board for the UK and Ireland and the Vice Chair of the RICS FM professional board and is a keen advocate for the development and enhancement of the FM profession throughout the UK.

Rory was involved in developing the guidnace notes on FM standards within the RICS and has contributed to a number of case studies and round table discussions supporting the need for the FM profession to be more strategic in its approach and to enhance and attract the best talent to an FM career.

Martin Pickard FRICS FBIFM - President

Martin’s career in facilities began as a mailroom assistant in 1970. For more than 40 years he has worked as Facilities Manager, Service Provider, Trainer and Consultant in operational, strategic and leadership roles. A habitual FM activist he was involved in the creation of many of the building blocks of modern facilities management including the AFM, IFMA UK and the BIFM. Martin was a President of the previous IFMA UK Chapter and is a Fellow of both the BIFM and the RICS. Today he runs the FM Guru consultancy, is Chairman of the Association of Master Upholsterers and Soft Furnishers (AMUSF) and is a Non Exec Director of a number of interiors related businesses.

Martin has been a regular speaker at FM conferences around the world since the 1980s and is a prolific writer of articles and white papers on facilities management. Awards include seven from the British Institute of Facilities Management including two for FM Journalism and being named by FM World as one of the 20 FM Pioneers. In 2015 he received the BIFM Lifetime Achievement Award for his contribution to the FM profession. In 2016 PFM Magazine gave him their Lifetime Achievement award for his contribution to the Facilities industry. His “What FM’s Do” mindmap has been used by FM organisations, magazines and educational establishments all over the world. Martin describes himself as an FM evangelist and disruptive influence dedicated to advancing the FM profession.

Deborah Rowland FRICS, FBIFM - Board Director

Deborah is the Director Public Sector Services Affairs for Sodexo. Her role is to co-ordinate the public sector activities and relationships in the UK and support strategy development for the Global Government segment.

Strategic and operationally experienced property and facilities management Director with over 30 years practice in private and public sectors. An industry thought leader demonstrating best practice in service delivery and asset management, leading business transformation and developing new policy for FM and Construction.  Raising the bar in professionalism and leading by example.

Deborah was previously Director Facilities Management for the Ministry of Justice and prior to that held a central policy FM position in the Cabinet Office. She developed an FM Strategy with central government departments across a spend of £3.2bn for the central government estate to drive out efficiencies. During her time in government she completed the Major Projects Leadership Academy programme at Oxford Said Business School.

Deborah led on Government Soft Landings (GSL) policy which was an objective of the Government Construction Strategy to align construction and design with those that use, operate and maintain them. This forms part of Building Information Modelling (BIM) Level 2 which has been    mandated for central government and was a member of the UK BIM Task Group.

She has an MSc in FM, is a Fellow of BIFM, a Fellow of RICS and is a trustee for the IFMA Foundation. Deborah was awarded BIFM FM of the Year 2013 and the Global FM Platinum Excellence award in 2014 – the only individual to have been given this award.

Stephen Shallcroft FRICS - Board Director

Stephen is a highly successful, data-rational, business leader with extensive Blue Chip training and experience in business management across different industries and functions aligned with corporate real estate. He develops innovative property, workplace and facilities management solutions to define and maintain Group wide property strategy to optimise the workplace in support of operational, cost, and quality targets.

Stephen has developed, and delivered portfolio rationalisation programmes across international portfolios, and different industry sectors, to support core business objectives. This has be delivered through the innovative development of business focussed, Agile Working, proactive real estate and FM strategies to match business challenges.

Stephens thought leadership, expertise, and delivery experience, has be shared with the wider real estate community, through publications and participation in the development of industry competencies, as a Fellow within the RICS, with the IFMA, and as MBA external examiner to Sheffield Hallam University.

Success for Stephen is delivering complex and leading edge business solutions, derived from strong relationships and stakeholder management across business and other functions including HR, IT, Finance and Marketing. Jo Sutherland - Marketing & Communications Director.

As associate director for award winning Magenta Associates – the specialist B2B communications, public relations and content agency – Jo is responsible for managing a team of PR executives and account leads, designing and delivering communications strategies and PR services, and developing successful lasting relationships with clients and journalists, primarily in the built environment sector. Since joining the PR profession, Jo has led a number of high-profile national and international campaigns for leading brands, organisations and celebrities. 

Dave Wilson FRICS, IFMA Fellow - Immediate Past President

Dave Wilson is a non-Executive Director with Morphose Limited, and owner of Effective Facilities. Dave has 25 years expertise in Facilities Management, working in the  sector globally at Board Director level.

He has worked on mergers, acquisitions, outsourcing and service improvement projects with internationally recognised corporate occupiers and service providers.  He has significant experience in the FM and real estate markets across EMEA, Asia Pacific, the USA and the UK, and high level contacts through his involvement with global industry.

Dave was deputy chair of BIFM and is also a former president of IFMA UK and IFMA Europe. He is a regular contributor to the facilities and real estate trade press, and presenter to a range of global industry forums, including World Workplace, the BIFM Conference, EFMC, and Facility Fusion.

His support for the development of the industry includes being the UK lead on the ISO standard for FM, and he is convenor of the European standard on Facility Benchmarking. He also works with IFMA to develop and maintain their FMP and CFM credentials and their Knowledge Strategy, and is a member of their International Credentials Committee. All this provides him with excellent networks across the globe.
